IM DONE/ disowned some family

I just have to let some excitement out. I finished my last final last night, and I am proud to say that I am officially a BYU graduate! YES!!! No more SCHOOL for me :) I graduated with honors too (top 15% in my graduating class). I honestly never thought that would happen, so I thought I would brag just a little. WHOO HOOO!!

I accomplished my life long dream, and now I can tell my future children that I have a degree. I have always valued education, and hope my children do too.

  NOW WHAT?!?!?
Well Adam and I have already moved! ha. We had to move during finals week. A little stressful to say the least. We moved in ONE NIGHT (stayed up till 4am moving). It was due to family issues. Ex family members (on my mom's side of the family) started tampering with our stuff (turned off our water heater and took our power cord for the internet, so we wouldn'y have any). I say ex because we officially disowned them. They said a lot of stuff that they now regret. They treated Adam and I so badly and pissed a lot of other family member off because of what they did. I just hate that they are putting my grandma in a home. They D.I.ed all her stuff and told her she can never live in her home again. They are control freaks and basically kicked Adam and I out because they couldn't wait 3 days (until finals were over). Oh and none of Grandma's siblings are allowed to stay there anymore, when they come up to visit. It's getting rediculous, but it's okay because we don't ever have to see or talk to them again. It's just too bad that people like to take their frusterations out on nice people. Adam and I still do not know why they did all that stuff to us. We never even see these people or talk to them, until family reunions or holidays.

ON A POSITIVE NOTE: Adam and I are leaving for Ohio on the 23rd! We really, REALLY, REALLY can't wait. Adam has the nicest family in the entire world. I feel bad that I can't say the same about some of my ex extended family. I just can't believe the way they treated both of us. If I wrote down everything they said you would be shocked, and i mean SHOCKED. This wasn't just they said some mean things. NO it was beyond AWFUL. A lot of people who heard what they did, say they are going straight to hell.

Anyways, after Ohio we get to move back to CA!!! I am so excited for warm weather!! I miss the sun. It has been a winderwonderland down here. I do not like the snow anymore! Its just too cold.

We have been in school/ finals mode and have even forgotten it's Christmas time. Christmas is in a week. That is CRAZY. Last night Adam and I went caroling at the cove point retirement center with our psych 330 class. It was so much fun. The old people there were so grateful that we came to sing to them. One cute old lady started blowing us kisses. We were offered Belgium chocolate by another lady. Afterwards, we went to our teacher's house for treats. I have never seen a more decorated house in my life. There seriously couldn't have been more decorations inside. We had a lot of fun. It was the first Christmasy thing that Adam and I have done this year (well besides going to temple square with my parents to see the lights-which by the way was disspointing this year b/c they cut back on lights. They probably only used half as many as they did last year).

Life is full of unexpected and frustrating things sometimes

So I haven't blogged in a while, so what? It's my blog and I can blog when I want to. Life has been busy and full of unexpected and frustrating things. I don't want to bore anyone to tell with all the details of this month, so I will just start with last Saturday. I will wait to share the bad news, and I will start off on a better note. Saturday morning we went to a family expo for our stake that lasted till the late afternoon. They had awesome speakers. Adam and I both learned a lot. They had a catered luncheon afterwords that was really good. It kinda reminded me of the graduation dinner put on by BYU, only it was better. They had these giant eclairs for dessert that were very scrumptious.  Did we ever mention that we are really enjoying this new ward? It's so nice to be surrounded with people our age who are in similar circumstances. I actually want to get to know people and look forward to visiting teaching. ha. Anyways, we went to that AWFUL, FRUSTRATING BYU game that night. The traffic gets really bad an hour before the game (bumper to bumper traffic). They have cops at every stop light. We had to drop some stuff off at my aunts house before we headed over to the game, so we were in a big hurry leaving only an hour and 15 minutes before the game. We parked at a friends house in Provo and had them drive us over, so it worked out b/c we made it on time.  Did you guys watch that terrible game? Adam and I were so depressed after. We actually left early because we were so frusterated. I just felt bad because it was Adam's first experience actually being at a game. Hopefully this Saturday they will play better, so we can actually sit through the whole game.  Anyways, we stopped by Brian and Bethany's house afterwards, so I could pick up some more birth control (I have never had to pay for birth control which is pretty sweet). Thanks Bethany!!! We ended up staying at there house till sometime after 10pm. Its hard not to make things quick with my family. ha. Adam and I went home and watched movies till the late hours of the night. Needless to say we slept in.  Its a good thing our church doesn't start till 2:30pm. However, we don't like getting out so late. The whole day is gone. Dinner isn't till 7 and then starting hw after is no fun.

Some photos from the upsetting game:

We were happy before the game started. We enjoyed a yummy pretzel.

Then, we enjoyed some cookie dough ice cream. I will miss the creamery's ice cream when we move.

okay, now we get to the VERY unexpected and tragic news. Monday we decided to stop home after our morning classes so I could bake a couple different batches of cookies for my brother. Its his birthday tomorrow and I wanted to add the cookies to the package I put together for him, that I was sending out that afternoon. I had already made the chocolate chip cookies and had just finished mixing the peanut butter cookies. My grandma was sitting down in her favorite blue chair, relaxing because she was tired from being out in the garden. She got up to come in the kitchen. I was scooping cookies on a baking sheet at this point. She walked right behind me. Then one minute later there was a huge THUMP!!!!!!! I freaked and turned around to see my grandma lying on her back, unable to move. I screamed for Adam. It was a very traumatic five minutes after that. Adam ran up stairs and assessed the situation. Grandma couldn't move at all. She couldn't even lift her head. She was conscious though. Adam and I lifted her up and put her on the couch. She couldn't even put weight on her feet. She acted like she was OKAY. Ya Grandma, you can't move and you think you are okay. She had Adam give her a blessing and we told her we should take her to the hospital. She kept saying no I am fine. My grandma is a tough chickaroo. She is kinda stubborn too. My mom is the only one who can talk some sense into her, so I called her and had her talk to grandma. She acted like she wasn't in any pain and that people should stop worrying, the blessing would kick in. We had our aunt talk to her and then finally Brian was called. He came over and took one look at her and called an ambulance (his wife works at a hospital). The paramedics showed up and said that her right leg was shorter than her left. Uh ooh, not a good sign. We followed the ambulance over to the hospital. We waited there the rest of the day. They wouldn't let her eat or drink anything. She stayed in an ER room till after 10pm. I couldn't believe it took them that long to get her a room. Sometime that night, her Xrays came back letting us know that she broke her hip. :( My poor grandma! She broke her other hip 10 years ago. She is now 84. This was such horrible news! Man on man. We have such a great family. Almost everyone who lives in Utah came down that night to visit her. Yesterday was crazy stressful catching up on lost work. We had a meeting, tons of assignments w/ some due at midnight, classes till 7, and a soccer game at 9, so we didn't get to bed till 2am.   We felt bad that we couldn't be with her after her surgery yesterday. Her surgery went well though, so that's a positive note. She is now in recovery mode. We visited with her today, for several hours, and she slept most of the time. We ate at the cafeteria they have there while some other family was with her. They have some good food there at a reasonable price. We are so grateful to everyone who heard about it on facebook and prayed for her. I just feel bad because she has to relearn how to walk and everything at 84 years of age. We are hoping for the best.

Here are the cookies I made for my brother and the start of his b-day package. It was moved to a large priority box. We had to buy some bubble wrap to wrap the cookies really well, and some packing tape because we ran out. It cost us 20 dollars and i don't remember how many cents. ha. I just thought it was ironic b/c my brother turns 20 tomorrow. You are probably thinking what a bunch of random things to send. All the things in the package have significance, well, they will remind him of us all.

This is going to take some getting use to

My sister has a BOYFRIEND! It seems like yesterday when she still hated boys. She would always talk about how all guys are horrible (including all those in the church) because they all like to look at nasty girls, whether on t.v., at school, the beach, etc. I never thought i would see the day because she still acts like a little girl, even though she is SUPER independent and confident with anything she does. Anyways, she looked amazing at her prom this past weekend, in a dress she ordered off ebay. I am happy that she has broken out of her shell in this area. It's just going to take some getting use to. Its super fun though having her call me and talk about what she should say to him, or telling me about all the kisses they give each other. She is going away to college in the fall. She better not come home with a ring on her finger! lol

Sexual Harassment

After our sex and gender class was over today, Adam and I met with our group to discuss ideas for our project. Our group liked the idea that Adam and I came up with together the best, so they wanted us to go get it approved from our teacher...
So, Adam and I go up to the teacher and start discussing our idea with her. She looks down at my ring and says, "You're married!!" (Like something wasn't right). I looked at her confused and said, "Ya, he is my husband, pointing over at Adam." She gasped and said with relief, "OH GOOD!!" Then preceded to say, "I saw him touch your butt and I thought it was sexual harassment, and thought I had to intervene and report it." Adam and I started laughing because neither one of us remembered him touching my butt. When you get married, these actions turn into automatic responses. We said that we would try to keep the PDA down a notch. We thought it was hilarious.

Watch out for "Crazy" at Denny's

This is the HUGE line we waited in. The line wrapped all the way around the building. We almost didn't stay because Adam and I both had class at 12:05 and figured it would take more than an hr. and a half. (We arrived at 10:30). I walked up to the front of the line and asked how long those people had been waiting, and to my surprise, they answered 30 min. Adam, Erika, and I decided WHY NOT..the weather isn't too bad and its not everyday you get free food right? So we waited in line which gave Erika and I the chance to catch up since we don't see each other very often, which was nice. Adam ran into one of his good friends and his ex-girlfriend. There were a lot of BYU students hanging out, so it was fun.

However, there was an insane woman in front of us in line (If you look at the picture at the top...she is the lady in the bottom left corner). She was like the line Gestapo. She wouldn't let anyone get by her, who she assumed was cutting or joining their party. I thought there was going to be a smack down at one point. She would get all up in peoples faces. Everyone around us was scared of her...i'm not kidding. The people behind us had a few people joining up in their group and worried the lady would go all crazy on them. So they kept letting people go ahead of them, hoping the lady wouldn't notice when their other friends arrived.

So we get inside and they are handing out coupon booklets. This "crazy" lady pretended she was handing them out to people, and got a huge handful and shoved them in her pocket (TOTAL HYPOCRITE). She even grabbed another handful later. Adam swore she was homeless and that the other lady who was with her had picked her up off the street. Erika actually overheard "Crazy" talking with this other lady...and found out they both came alone...and crazy had invited herself to sit with this other woman. So she was not homeless after all..just Crazy!

One of the boys who was waiting on his other friends went inside to use the bathroom. When he came out he came up to us and said, "Man that crazy lady has got some issues" or something to that extent, not realizing that the lady was right behind him. He turned around because Erika and I were pointing and giving him the signal to stop talking, and realized what had just happened (You should have seen the look on his face). He immediately began saying, "no the OTHER crazy lady"He was totally embarrassed and went back into the bathroom to hide LOL. Luckily right after the incident it was Crazys turn to be seated.

Needless to say, Crazy was the highlight of the day. We couldn't stop laughing. So we were glad we waited in line after all. Adam and I were 30 min late to class but it was no biggie.

Adam hates pictures especially in the morning. What a butt! He pulled down his hood right before Erika took the picture.

WHAT ARE THE ODDS?!?!?!

Sooo Adam and I went out to Red Robin tonight to sorta celebrate our three month anniversary, which was yesterday(Can't really go out on the sabbath) AND funny thing so everyone knows how Red Robin has fun signs all around right?..well I was pointing at this sign that I remember my 9th grade teacher having in her class room...and I started nudging Adam to look over at it...I turned to look at him to see if he was looking at the sign...then I turned back to notice MY EX standing right between me and the sign and I was pointing right at him...not to mention he was only like 3 feet away. I guess he was sitting right behind us. The booths are so tall we wouldn't have been able to see each other...but he stood up and there I was pointing at him with my full arm extended while I was nudging my husband. I thought it was pretty funny. I think he was totally embarrassed because he just walked away quickly. Our relationship ended on bad terms...otherwise I would have said hi and what not. Seriously though..what are the odds?

So I never mentioned how on the ball these Utah wards are up here. We got callings so quickly and just spoke in sacrament meeting yesterday.

Macy's

Disclaimer: Holly tells me she wants to use this blog as a journal of our adventures/experiences, so even the lame everyday stuff is gonna get put in here.

We got a Kitchen Aid mixer a couple of weeks ago as a wedding gift from our relatives. It's been sitting, or rather rolling around making horrible crashing noises while picking up several nice dents on the box, ever since. We didn't mean to let it sit in the car so long, intending to take it back to Macy's and trade it in for a different color or even upgrade it to a larger size. However, we are a couple of lazy bums and let the "school" excuse justify the thumping and sliding box which constantly rams the walls of the trunk everytime I make a turn. I guess you could say it was a daily reminder of the task we were supposed to do and yet continually procrastinated. Well today Holly and I said enough is enough and we took the expensive noise maker back to the store and up three flights of stairs for our refund. A few things happened once in the store. First: waiting around, holding a 50 lb box, for a customer service employee to materialize while other Macy's employees went about their business often glancing in our direction and giving us the, "I don't work that department" look. Second: when the customer service employee finally showed up and scanned the barcode on our mixer the computer showed the product was bought on sale for $120 dollars cheaper than what was printed on the box, and a full $220 (after mail in rebate) less than the cost of what the upgrade would be. Talk about a kick to the wallet (where the wallet is positioned between your legs). We asked them if we could just trade it in for a different color, black perhaps, but they told us this one only came in white....lovely. So, what do you do? We decided to take store credit instead and took our lovely little $191.78 gift card to the bedding section to find a ridiculously overpriced duvet cover. The one we landed on was a wonderful, shiny-grey $270 sheet that does nothing more than cover the down comforter which we bought at Costco for almost a third of that price. Lucky for us, some pimply-faced, minimum wage earning employee forgot to take down a forgotten sale sign that announced a previous (and not still current) price of $199. We jumped all over this and coupled with the fact that I had registered us at Macy's (although I never added anything to the registry, this is just a neat little trick to get discounts) we got an additional 10% off and would you believe our total came out to be $191.78, the exact amount of credit we got from the mixer trade in. Coincidence or what? So after walking in lugging a ridiculously heavy, overpriced but bought on sale mixer that turned my trunk into a maraca, we strolled out with an almost empty bag, containing a sewn piece of material probably made by a sweatshop worker in China. But who cares...we didn't have to pay for it. Boy am I gonna sleep good tonight.
