wakeboarding is pretty fun

SO I go wakeboarding today for the first time in my life and forget the camera. How lame is that?! I did pretty darn good for my first time. I got up on my first try and everything. My cousins Chris and Mike do all sorts of flips and stuff. My husband is just learning. He can sorta jump the wake. I just rode next to the wake the whole time...baby steps. ha. Our legs are like jello now. It can get pretty tiring out there.

Cowabunga

The girls: Heather, me, Meagan, and Brooke
This new water park was pretty fun but more of a one time deal. The play area on the way up to the slides was the best part. You are soaked the whole time because there is water everywhere. You can't get around it. People shoot at you with hoses and buckets tip over and drench you out of no where. It was a good time for the most part. Adam loved dumping buckets of water on people from three stories up. ha. Heather started it. She got this older dude, and then Adam was hooked and had no shame. It's pretty small, yhe water slides are not that great, and after three hours we were bored with it. We had a good time all together though. We went to Wingers after for some yummy food. I love their sticky finger wrap. yum.

I get excited when...

I break 100 when we go bowling. I am a horrible bowler. Twinkle Toes is what Adam calls me. I was so proud that I beat Adam because he is actually a good bowler. This was one of his worst games. Adam has gotten 245 before. I think he let me win. He is nice like that. I have a video of me bowling on Adam and my first date together. Just watch those twinkle toes.

Let him in

We watched Legacy tonight in honor of pioneer day. Joseph Smith says in the movie "Our weakness keeps us from him"-meaning Christ. This picture came to mind. It really is true if you think about it. All of us getting caught up in the world...money, glamour, you name it. Focusing on these things instead of what is really important, turns us away from him. We also watched this hand cart movie. I really do have a lot of respect for the pioneers. I don't know how they did it.

Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House

We went with a group of 25 people (all relatives) on my grandma's birthday yesterday. It is such a beautiful temple. Adam and I love the windows. They have the coolest stars that you can see out of. Also, we have never seen so much tile throughout a temple. It was different. We all went and celebrated at grannies afterwards. It was a good time.

p.s. the cookies they give you after are SO scrumptious. I had two... shhh! My grandma has such a sweet tooth. She had four! Maybe we shouldn't have given her see's chocolate haha.

blueberry goodness

I made these Sunday night. It was a random spur of the momment GOOD idea.

Found this recipe on allrecipes.com and it turned out great. I used fresh blueberries and substituded vegetable oil for the butter. Also, you don't have to wait an hour like it says.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, thawed

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large bowl, sift together flour, salt, baking powder and sugar. In a small bowl, beat together egg and milk. Stir milk and egg into flour mixture. Mix in the butter and fold in the blueberries. Set aside for 1 hour.
  2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

I like Jack's Mannequin a little less and The Fray a little more

After seeing them in concert on Saturday

I was very dissapointed with Jack's Mannequin. Andrew McMahon is the weirdest performer I have ever seen. I call him slinky man. He could not sit still. He would stand up for a second, do a weird snake like motion, sit down for a second, and then do it all over again. I couldn't help but laugh. Everyone else in the band just stood there like statues. There was nothing real great about it. It was just OK for me. I guess I should give Andrew a break. He recovered from acute lymphoblastic leukemia and has done a lot to raise money for leukemia awareness. He also has his own foundation geared toward raising money for cancer research.
The sky was really pretty that night
I was a little impressed with the Fray. I am not gonna lie. Isaac Slade has an amazing voice and the rest of the band contributed to impressing me. I just wish I would have been more familiar with their songs. I only knew their hit songs, like How to Save a Life (which was touching b/c Isaac told the story behind that song) and Cable Car (Over my head). We ended up leaving after a few songs as a result.
I really liked all the lights they used and especially the screen at the top
voila!
Like I said, I like the Fray a little more and Jack's Mannequin a little less.

Incubus

we BOTH really, really, really, like Incubus. So naturally, we saw them in concert on Thursday.
We went with Adam's best friend Jared and his gf Iran.

Our 8 dollar nachos. They were actually pretty good.

We were LOVING every minute of it. There are no words to describe how truely amazing they really are live. All I can say, is that they sound just like they do on all their CD's, perfection!
It was at the usana amphitheater
Waiting for them to come out.
Oh man, it was so good. I want to see them in concert again. I have seen them twice so far.
Brandon Boyd you rock my pants off! No, but seriously he is incredible...such a good voice!

Shirt off
He sure can hit that bongo. ha.

Timpanogos Caves

Going through the gate
We fed a littel chipmunk on the way
We went with Jared and Iran

You can see the parking lot
This is the only picture we have inside the caves because the battery died in my camera shortly after this pic was taken :/
We made it to the TOP! The hike was not that bad besides the heat. It took us an hour to get up there.

Taking pictures of Jared and Iran
Holding up the rock
It was so pretty
Before we started our journey up there.

Raging Waters & Down Town Disney

I have never really been to a water park except for seven peaks when I was like seven...so Adam thought it would be fun to go to Raging Waters in San Dimas. This was taken right when we entered the park.
We got there around noon so after we went on a few slides we pulled out the snacks. We are actually sitting down at a table in this picture w/ all our snacks....which we failed to capture.
This park is perfect for families! They have a few of these sand places where you can lay out. There are tons of play areas and smaller slides for the kids. They have a pretty big wave pool and lazy river.
They have a lot of tube slides that require two riders and slides where you use a mat with handles and go down face first (those were my favorite). I really liked this one called speed racer or something because they time you. Its like one of those big slides at the fair with 8 or 9 lanes. As soon as the light turns green you jump and slide down and receive your time when you cross the finish line. I kicked Adam's trash.
This was one of the slides you go down face first on a mat.
These are a couple of the smaller slides.

Here is our 6 dollar ice cream cone.
Overall, I really liked my first experience of a REAL water park.
We went to Down Town Disney afterwards and decided to eat at the Rain forest Cafe.
They told us it would be a 25-35 min wait. We went inside the shop and took this picture by the fish tank and then they called us so we really only had to wait two minutes.

We had some good company. This gorilla comes to life.
Well, Adam didn't really care for the zebra.

We looked at all the shops and tried on these hats.
Adam rolled up a receipt to make the joint lol
